We've been fans of Panaracer for some time, if fact many outstanding bicycle components hail from Japan. From the breathtaking bends of NITTO bars and the slick, streamlined NJS seat post or the indisputable pedal kings - MKS, whom seem to make indestructible pedals. The GROWTAC EQUAL brake is another prime example of the Rising Sun's awesomeness.
Rowdy rubber rotates in my mind and I thought it would be cool to lay out some key points of the new tech these tremendous tyres offer.
"BeadLock" is first up. Panaracer have redesigned there beads to have a super easy tubeless fit, they will work with hookless and clincher rims and provide more rim protection.
Only found in the GravelKing range is the new "TuffTex" a revolutionary structure that boasts a supple, high thread count which offers bead-to-bead protection and durability but keeping the weight down.
The "TuffTex" material comes in a few different specs to suit different riding styles and disciplines.
TuffTex - A supple, high thread count casing fortified with precisely engineered bead-to-bead puncture protection.
TuffTex+ - Increases resilience with a dual layer of bead-to-bead TuffTex material. Same as the standard but providing additional puncture resistance.
TuffTex R - The most supple and lightweight casing to date. Still has bead-to-bead but this distinctive combination guarantees an exceptionally smooth ride, providing the lowest rolling resistance.
The way I see it, is that if you want extra puncture protection, the TuffTex+ is a goer, but if you like the lighter, quicker tyre the TuffTex R is the one.
A few sizes have been added and dropped, with some bigger rubbers to be ridden, now the 38c can only be found in the EXT and EXT+.
Last but not least - A whole new tread pattern! With new graphics and an updated sidewall colour - The X-1.
